For All the Book Lovers

The Book Rack has been a Jackson fixture for over 50 years. Well-remembered, longtime owner, Margaret McMullin, operated the store selling quality used books for many years. After she passed away, her son Mark and his wife Sarah took over. Chris and Missie McCoy purchased the store in November 2013 and continued the tradition, while upgrading some features of the store. Their hard work to organize and modernize the store is still evident today. When it came time for Chris and Missie to move closer to family, Christy Soloveichik took over the store in December 2018. As a child, she came to The Book Rack with her mother and grandmother and continued to shop there as an adult. She is proud to continue the tradition of providing quality used books to readers in the Jackson and surrounding areas and hopes other families will continue, or begin, a tradition of visiting The Book Rack to find good books to read with their children or for their personal enjoyment. The Book Rack has over 27,000 books in just about every genre: fiction, romance, historical romance, westerns, classics, sci-fi, fantasy, inspirational, self-help, and other miscellaneous books… and of course, a nice selection of children’s books!

About The Author

Dasha Peipon

Dasha is originally from Ukraine (it’s in the heart of Europe, look it up on the map if you want!) and moved to Mississippi with her family in September 2017. Before that she lived in Massachusetts and Maryland. She guesses they have a thing for “M” states. She is a writer, an editor, a teacher and the type of mom that never sits still. Being part of Parents & Kids has been helpful for her goal of finding places to explore with her kids, getting plugged in and her family becoming true Mississippians.
