School’s Out, Learning Isn’t!

School’s Out, Learning Isn’t!

Knowledge is power – and learning doesn’t have to come to an end when the school day does. There are lots of fun educational activities for kids in the Jackson area, making it easy to keep the learning going long after the school day does. Take a peek below for a few of our favorite options for educational fun – all of which are so well planned, kids will most likely pick up on the fun part, but not the educational part.

One-Stop Shop

The premier early child development center in Jackson, the WBF Rainbow Learning Center offers early childhood education programs for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. The center offers after-school and summer programs, too. An array of services isn’t the only thing WBF Rainbow Learning Center has going for it, though. There’s also the staff, all of whom are certified and extensively trained to take excellent care of every child and provide them with the tools needed to succeed in school and in life – this notion is further explained on the center’s website, which states, “We strive to provide the highest quality child care and educational services that promote and enhance each child’s development, while at the same time, assuring each parent’s peace of mind. We offer a safe, nurturing environment that brings out the best in kids of all ages.” For more information, visit the WBF Rainbow Learning Center website (

A Dash of This, A Sprinkle of That

“Celebrating the art of everyday entertaining,” The Everyday Gourmet in Jackson carries everything from cookbooks, cookware, and tableware to linens, china, crystal, and more. There are even hand-crafted items that can’t be found anywhere else. In addition to all that, The Everyday Gourmet hosts cooking classes for kids. Typically, the culinary courses, which are designed for ages 6 and up, feature some type of fun theme. Participants must register for class no less than 48 hours in advance. You Gotta Have Faith

Son Seekers, a Christ-centered childcare facility that specializes in after-school programs and summer camps, is the perfect combination of education, faith, and fun. Since opening roughly 10 years ago, it’s expanded to include locations in Pearl, Brandon, and Florence. Additional locales aren’t the only way it’s grown, though. Attendance has skyrocketed throughout the years; however, don’t assume Son Seekers has forgotten its main goal, which is “to create an incredible experience for your kids, while showing them Christ’s love through doing life with them.” The facility’s commitment is reiterated on its website, which asserts, “Although this program has grown to reach more families than anyone ever expected or thought possible, our goals, mindset, and desire to relate with each and every child that walks through the doors still remains the same as it did the day we opened. It takes a lot more staff, planning, and facility maintenance than it did years ago when we first opened with 5 kids, but as the years go by, we [remain] committed to approaching every year with that same passion as we did in 2013!” For more information, visit the Son Seekers website (
