2019 Summer Reading Programs for Children and Adults

Mississippi State University, Center for Continuing Education, a non-profit organization, is proud to offer the Summer Reading Skills Program to families throughout Biloxi, Hattiesburg, and Jackson. Since 2003, this program has helped students in our community build strong reading skills and develop a deep love of books and reading. The program is designed and taught by the Institute of Reading Development, a nationwide leader in reading skills instruction.

4-Year-Olds and Entering Kindergarteners: Learn to Read, Phonics, Sight Words

Entering 1st Graders: Phonics, Sight Words, Fluency, Comprehension

Entering 2nd and 3rd Graders: Phonics, Fluency, Comprehension

Entering 4th and 5th Graders: Comprehension, Fiction and Non-Fiction, Textbook Skills

Entering 6th-11th Graders: Speed Reading, Comprehension, Textbook Skills

Entering 12th Graders, College Students, and Adults: Speed Reading for Work, School, and Pleasure
