B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center Receives Mississippi Arts Commission COVID Relief Grant
JACKSON, MISS. – (13 October 2021) – The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center of Indianola has been awarded a $16,000.00 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) made possible through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) distributed by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
“The state’s arts community has displayed such resiliency during tumultuous times, and we are very pleased to provide emergency support to help these worthy organizations,” said Sarah Story, executive director of MAC. “These funds will help organizations recover from the past year and build upon their successes for the future.”
The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization is dedicated to the establishment of a museum (and Delta Interpretive Center) honoring B.B. King. Through the story of B.B. King, the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center empowers, unites and heals through music, art, and education and shares with the world the rich cultural heritage of the Mississippi Delta. The Museum sees its role not just as preserver of history, but also as a place for the community to convene to discuss, learn, explore important issues and have fun together. We greatly express our thanks of gratitude to Mississippi Senators and Congressmen for passing the American Rescue Plan and National Endowment for the Arts for awarding these funds to Mississippi’s art institutions.
The Mississippi Arts Commission is a state agency serving more than two million people through grants and special initiatives that enhance communities, assist artists and arts organizations, promote arts education and celebrate Mississippi’s cultural heritage. MAC is funded by the Mississippi Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mississippi Endowment for the Arts at the Community Foundation for Mississippi and other private sources.
