Former Homeless Family Gives Back During Pandemic

At one point Rachel Handy and her children were struggling with finances. They stayed in a homeless shelter. An organization called Positive Tomorrows helped move the family into housing. Rachel began working. She developed a relationship with a partner and together they bought a house of their own. During the pandemic she lost her job as a waitress so Positive Tomorrows gave the family a grant. The family used part of the grant on bills and used part on giving back to their community in the form of food and blankets. They made food deliveries weekly. At the time of the story’s original publication they fed nearly 300 people.
