Virtual Storytime: The Tale of a Mississippi Pearl River Turtle

This is part of our PK Cares series of videos featuring Mississippi authors reading from their children’s books. We think it’s a great activity to share these “Virtual Storytime” videos with your child(ren), especially when out of ideas to fill the hours at home during Covid-19 social distancing.
Today’s Featured Author:
Mary Beth Magee of Pearl River County, Mississippi
Today’s featured video is from author, storyteller and workshop leader Mary Beth Magee, who will read today from her children’s book, “Pearl’s Pool.”
Book Summary: Peer pressure can be a big problem for children. When Pearl hears over and over that her pool isn’t good enough, will she start to believe it? Or, will she enjoy what she has?
Pearl the Turtle is a Pearl River Map Turtle, an endangered species which lives only in the Pearl River Basin in Mississippi and Louisiana. This is the first book in a series of stories about Pearl and her adventures.
Continue visiting the PK Cares section of our website, where we will periodically share more readings by Mississippi children’s authors.
