
Pick A Place: Museum Special
Summer is here, and the heat will be steadily increasing as the days pass. We are extremely blessed to have several fantastic indoor museums which can provide some much needed escape from the scorching temperatures that are very common here in Mississippi.
Mississippi Museum of Natural Science
Tucked inside of Lefleur’s Bluff State Park, visiting the Mississippi Natural Science Museum is a perfect opportunity to let kids learn the importance of understanding and appreciating Mississippi’s biological diversity through their wonderful exhibits. Every Tuesday and Friday at 10 am and Sunday at 2 pm, come and watch divers feed the fish; on Saturdays at 10 am and 2 pm, you and your kids can enjoy “Creature Features”, where you can see live animal demonstrations! Your preschooler willlove the Discovery Room where they can climb a tree, play with puppets, and hear stories. Story time is every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:15 and 11:15.

Mississippi Ag Museum: Agricultural Aviation Museum & Train Exhibit
Although much of the Mississippi Ag museum is outdoors, there are a couple of indoor sections that should not be missed. The National Agricultural Aviation Museum covers more than 5,000 feet and provides a great learning environment to teach your children about the industry that reshaped the history of agriculture, from early crop dusting biplanes to the modern aircraft. The Train Exhibit represents railroading in the late 1960’s and 1970’s, including three popular model sizes that played an important role in the development of agriculture and commerce in Mississippi.

Mississippi’s Children’s Museum
This incredible 2-story museum aims to help children grow into healthy adults through their creative hands-on, interactive exhibits. The five primary initiatives include Literacy, Health and Nutrition, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Cultural Arts, and Mississippi Heritage.

Tuesday – Saturday 9 am – 5 pm, Sunday 1 pm – 6 pm
Admission Prices:
$8, Children under 1 are FREE
