Book Buzz: Lola Dutch I Love You So Much

Lola Dutch I Love You So Much
written and illustrated by Kenneth and Sara Jane Wright
Ages 4-7, Bloomsbury Children’s Books
Valentine’s Day is coming, and the season of affection abounds. Lola Dutch loves her friends so much! When they’re having an especially bad day, Lola tries to cheer them up. Gator, Pig, and Crane are all very grumpy. Lola and Bear wonder what to do to help them feel better.
Gator is cold. So, Lola goes to a lot of trouble to make him a comfy, cozy gift. Soon, Gator is feeling pretty comfortable in his full-body blanket suit.
Crane can’t find her favorite book. Her books are scattered all over the house. So, Lola, along with some help from Gator and Pig, creates an especially nice book nook where Crane can read quietly. With all the books stacked neatly in her little area, Crane is very happy.
Pig, on the other hand, is feeling left out. Lola sees this and invites Gator, Crane and Pig to go for an outing in the park. There, they have a splendid time flying kites and enjoying a picnic. Even when it rains, their spirits aren’t dampened… they splish-splash in the puddles.
When they return home from their rainy-day excursion, Bear is there to meet them with fluffy towels and cocoa. Soon, they are dry and rested from a wonderful day.
Lola realizes that she has left someone out of all her efforts to cheer her friends up. Can you guess who? She tries and tries to come up with enough ways to say how much she loves her special friend, but all her efforts seem not quite enough to express how she feels. How will she find a way to show how much love she feels for her friend?
Lola Dutch I Love You So Much is the third book in the series with the popular character Lola Dutch. She always has her friends’ best interest at heart. Author/Illustrator team Kenneth and Sara Jane Wright weave just the right tension into a lovely story about friendship and how we express our love for one another.
