FITNESS FEST: October 5, Tupelo – Save the Date!

FITNESS FEST: October 5, Tupelo – Save the Date!

Fall can be a busy time of year for families between school and all the fun extra-curricular activities it brings. For kids who are involved with team sports, they will have built-in opportunities at practice and games for fitness, while their proud parents are cheering them on. However, with homework, projects, and clubs already taking up ample time outside of school, students may find themselves not getting much exercise, and, as a result, start feeling sluggish. For kids not playing team sports this year and for families who want to stay fit together, here is an incredible opportunity to get the whole family off the sidelines and into the fitness game.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Fitness Fest – a FREE fun family event in Mall at Barnes Crossing in Tupelo, sponsored by Children’s of Mississippi.

All ages are welcome, and everyone is guaranteed to have a good time! There will be over 50 interactive play areas to get the kids moving, while their parents and grandparents learn about fun and easy ways to stay healthy. Kids will get excited about fitness and active lifestyle while exploring a GIANT walk-through anatomically accurate inflatable heart, the Animal Alphabet Safari, balance games, jump ropes, hula hoops and trying their best moves on the dance floor. There will be on-stage entertainment as well, including educational speakers, dancers, musicians, athletes. Come meet a special guest, MPB’s “Ed Said”!

This isn’t the first year for Fitness Fest. Carrie Partridge, Parents & Kids staff writer, PK Media digital manager and mom of five, has been to every Fitness Fest in the past. She shared why she loves it so much: “Fitness Fest is definitely one of my favorite Parents & Kids events! The atmosphere is full of energy, activities, interaction, and fun! There is something for everyone. I always enjoy the dance, martial arts, and Zumba demonstrations.”

One of the locals, Meagan Robinson shared her experience and told us what the highlight of the event was for her. “My favorite part was exploring the giant inflatable heart from Healthworks. Walking through the heart, I was amazed by the complexities and intricacies of this organ I think we sometimes take for granted. The heart contained fun and easy-to-understand facts about cardiac health, and there was a lot I didn’t know before. Kids were having a great time, and I kept hearing repeated exclamations of “This is so cool!”

So go ahead and add a reminder into your smartphone app, lace up your walking shoes, and head to Fitness Fest in Tupelo on October 5! Come join the fun!
