The Biloxi Shuckers: Winding Up for a Fifth Season

The Biloxi Shuckers: Winding Up for a Fifth Season
By Julie Hunger

When the school year comes to a close and the nights start to get longer, the Biloxi Shuckers will be ready for a fifth year of professional baseball on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Once again, the Shuckers will play at their home, MGM Park, for 70 home games that begin in early April and end in late August. More than just baseball, Shuckers games are also an affordable, family-friendly setting for entertainment throughout late spring and summer.

“We strive to provide the best fan experience for everyone, parents and kids alike,” Shuckers General Manager Hunter Reed said. “We make sure there is something for everyone at our games, and that when members of Shuck Nation walk out of the ballpark, they’ve created lifelong memories.”

Tickets to Shuckers games start as low as $7 each, and fans can purchase the “Schooner Special” any day of the week, which includes a hot dog, chips and a drink for just $5. Along with winning baseball, Shuckers games feature unique in-game promotions, games and entertainment that just might have fans dancing and laughing the entire night.

The full promotional schedule for the Shuckers is released in early March, but highlights include fireworks every Friday night; giveaways; and special appearances. What’s more, kids can go down on the field and run the bases following every Shuckers home game. On Sundays, select Shuckers players will also be available for pregame autographs, and kids can bring their gloves to play catch on the field after the game has concluded. During Shuckers home games, Schooner’s Fun Zone is set up in the right field corner, which includes a bounce house, speed pitch and skeeball.

“As a parent, it’s such a luxury to work for an organization where my child can attend games and share in an experience that’s so enjoyable,” Shuckers Marketing Manager Dani Polen said. “Every time we drive past the stadium, even when there isn’t a game going on, my three-year-old will say, ‘Go see Shuckers play!’ because of how much fun she has at the games throughout the season.”

Most Shuckers games start at 6:35 p.m., with the exception of Sundays, when the games start at 2:35 p.m. There are also three day games that start at 10:35 a.m. on April 24, May 8 and June 11. Parking for Shuckers games is free in the area surrounding the ballpark, and access to the ballpark will be easier and safer in 2019 with the new walkways connecting the Beau Rivage parking garage to the other side of Beach Boulevard.

Individual tickets, group outings, and Shuck Nation membership (the Shuckers’ season ticket program) are available by calling (228) 233-3465 or visiting the website online at A full schedule for 2019 is also available online for anyone to plan their summer nights with the Shuckers!
