Don’t Miss WellsFest 2017!
Grab the whole family and head out to WellsFest on Saturday, September 30. The Wells Done 5K Run & Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run will kick off the festival at 8 a.m. There will be food, children’s activities, a pet parade at 9:30 a.m., live non-stop music on two stages, vendors and much more at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park throughout the day.
From its modest beginning in the mid 1980s, WellsFest has grown to become a significant community-wide event, with all proceeds going each year to a different non-profit in the community. Proceeds from this year’s WellsFest will be used by the Methodist Children’s Home of Mississippi to renovate the apartments used for young adults who have aged out of the system but are not yet prepared to live on their own. Over the years WellsFest has raised more than a million dollars for worthy charitable causes. In 2012, WellsFest was the recipient of the Governor’s Excellence in the Arts Award for Arts.
Prior to Saturday, WellsFest Art Night will be held on Tuesday, September 26 at Duling Hall in Fondren. This event is free and includes live music with refreshments by local restaurants Babalu and Table 100. The preview party begins at 5:30 p.m., and the live art auction at 7 p.m. A special feature is Mississippi watercolorist Wyatt Waters’ painting a still life on site that will be sold at the end of the auction. A “buy-now” section also will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m.
