Scott’s Toy Box: More Great Video Games
I know that I’ve been writing a lot about video games recently but it’s hard to deny that this year has produced a lot of great ones. This month in the Toy Box is no exception. I’ve included a racing game, an open world game, and a multiplayer game.
Cars 3: Driven To Win
First, we have Cars 3: Driven To Win. This racing game includes all of your favorites from the Cars franchise, from Sally and Ramone in the original Cars to Natalie Certain and Jackson Storm in Cars 3. There are several different types of game you can play. For example “Race” is plain and simple racing but “Battle Race” adds weapons that can be used against fellow racers. You perform tricks to fill your turbo meter which propels you ahead of the pack. As you play through the races and accomplish challenges, you unlock more race tracks, more types of games, and even custom touches you can add to any of your cars. The game allows for 1 to 4 players and is rated E10. You can find it where games are sold for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Wii U and the Switch. The game costs about $60 on Amazon but watch our Facebook page for an upcoming giveaway.
Birthdays The Beginning
Next, we have Birthdays The Beginning. In this open world game, you start with an empty world. As you shape the word and allow the time of your world to move forward, life forms start to spawn depending on the environment and the temperature. As time passes, more and more creatures and plans appear but if you’re not careful something may become extinct if conditions aren’t right. The library will help you figure out the necessary conditions to get the lifeforms you want. The game is available for the PS4 and on the PC via Steam. It costs around $40 on Amazon.
Finally, we have a game called Overcooked. This multiplayer game is all about management. You and your friends play as cooks in the kitchen and the goal is to fulfill as many orders as you can in the time allowed. It takes cooperation between players to get the orders made and out to the restaurant. Each kitchen has it’s own challenges and they appear in many different places. You’ll make soups, burgers, fish ‘n chip, pizza, etc. There is even a mode where you can compete against your friends to see who has the best kitchen. You can even play by yourself but you will have to switch control between two chiefs. Don’t worry though, the difficulty is scaled depending on how many people play. You can play with up to 4 friends and it’s available on Xbox One, PS4, the Switch, and the PC via Steam. It costs around $17 on your system’s store.
