Scott’s Toy Box: Fun on the Bookshelf
The one thing that my friends said when I was moving to my house last year was, “Man, you have a lot of bookshelves.” It’s true; I have a lot of bookshelves. I have several to store my movies, one to house my Legos, a couple to display my action figures, and one that actually holds books. This month in the toy box I decided to look for some interactive books that would be a great addition to your bookshelf.
First we have Star Wars Topps Classic Sticker Book. This sticker book has 17 pages of reproduced stickers from the classic Star Wars trilogy. There is also a page of stickers from the recent Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, done in the classic Topps collectable sticker style. The book also contains 5 large double-sided posters that can be taken out and decorate your wall. This book is perfect for any fan of Star Wars. You can find it on Amazon for about $10.
Next we have The Art of Stone Painting. Rock painting is a fun and inexpensive hobby. This book explains how to find the right rocks as well as what you need to get started. The book also contains 30 designs to give you an idea of what you can paint on your rocks, from birds to flowers. The ideas in this book are colorful and have photos of each step so you can make homemade gifts to share with your loved ones. You can find it on Amazon for about $14.
Next we have Out of the Box. This book is filled with crafts that can be made using cardboard boxes. There are crafts for all sizes from the size of a toilet paper tube to a large box and each craft has their own difficulty setting to let you know what craft is right for your child. Some of the awesome crafts in this book are animal masks, puppets, games, and many more. The book also includes a list of all the tools necessary to make each craft and instructions will photos. You can find it on Amazon for about $14.
Last but not least we have Paint By Sticker: Travel. This activity book is great for those who like paint by number but not cleaning up afterwards. The book includes 12 vintage travel posters from places like Cairo and Holland but most of the color is missing. Each poster had a large section that is segmented into different shapes and numbered. Then in the back of the book are stickers that correspond to the numbers on the page. You match the sticker to the number and fill in the rest of the poster. And when you’re done there is no paint to clean up afterward. You can find it on Amazon for about $10.
