Scott’s Toy Box: Have a Virtual Christmas
It’s hard to believe another year has gone by, even though winter has taken its time getting here. Now that the cold weather has finally arrived, let’s bundle up on the couch and play some video games. These video gamesare all rated E10 for Everyone 10 and up. Also, the price of video games depends on what system you have so the range of these games are between $60-$30 and can be found anywhere video games are sold.
Lego Batman 3 Beyond Gotham
First is a game that has been long anticipated by comic book fans, Lego Batman 3 Beyond Gotham. Like the title suggests, this game takes Batman out of Gotham and into space as he and the Justice League ban together with their foes to save the Earth from Brainiac. This game plays just like previous Lego games. There is no real consequence to your character dying (you only lose a few studs), and there is co-operative play for 2 players. The story is enjoyable and funny and there are hours of fun while you work your way through. With over 150 characters to unlock, you’ll find yourself playing as your favorite characters and even learning about some obscure ones. The game play is very versatile. Most of the story levels play like a side-scroller (think Mario Brothers) and the hub areas are open world, free for you to roam. The one thing I miss from Lego Batman 2 is the open world of Gotham City. The hub in this game is mostly inside the Watchtower (The Justice League’s space station), the Batcave and the Hall of Justice. There are also hubs of planets you visit but they don’t feel like you’re roaming through a city. However, it’s understandable because there are no cities in space. This game is perfect for everyone who has ever had a love for comics, Legos or both. It’s available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, WiiU, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, and PC.
Pac-man and the Ghostly Adventures 2
Next is a game from an old friend, Pac-man and the Ghostly Adventures 2. Based on the animated show, Pac-man and the Ghostly Adventures, this game is a platformer in which you play Pac-man as he runs through 40 levels of different themed worlds chasing down Lord Betrayus. Throughout his journey he will eat special berries that cause him to power up. These power ups will change him into Fire Pac, Ice Pac, Metal Pac, Paczilla, and more. You’ll also get to play as Spiral and Cyli in their own vehicle base missions. Piloting either Spiral’s Cherry Copter or Cyli’s personal hover board, you’ll soar across the skies using plasma suction cannons against the army of ghouls causing havoc across Pacworld. It’s available on the Xbox 360, PS3, WiiU, andNintendo 3DS.
Saban’s Power Rangers Super Megaforce
Finally we have a game based on a show that harkens back to my childhood, Saban’s Power Rangers Super Megaforce. This game is a side-scroller where you play as different Power Rangers fighting to save Earth from the ruthless Prince Vekar and his massive alien, Armada. As you play the game you’ll level up your Ranger and even unlock the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team and all the Red Rangers from the past 20 seasons of the series. Personally I would have liked all of the rangers to be in the game as I tend to favor the Blue Rangers, but having the Blue Ranger from MMPR is enough for me. You even get to engage in Zord battles when the enemies grow to supersize. This game is available on the Nintendo 3DS.
