Scott’s Toy Box: Time for Some Summer
I’ll be honest, winter is my jam. I love the cold weather, wearing jackets, and bundling up with some hot chocolate. However, summer is here and it brings cold glasses of lemonade, summer camps, and swimming pools which are also things I enjoy. Even though we all love our air condition, it’s good to get outside and play during the day. So this month in the toy box, I found some summer toys that you can take outside with you for some fun in the sun.
Kooba
First we have Kooba. Kooba is a darts game that uses magnets, which means no sharp points. You hang the board up on the wall and set the markers up for scoring, placing the Kooba in the bull’s-eye. Then you take your darts, called aeros, and place the game’s sticks through the hole making sure the magnets are facing toward the board. Standing away from the board at about 4 stick lengths, you stretch your arms forward with a stick in each hand and pull them apart propelling the aero to the board. Scoring takes place when the aero overlaps the eye in the middle of the board or one of the score markers on the board. You move the marker for each time you score until you get the space and then your marker is locked and can’t be attacked. In each game, players get one attack turn where they can send the other player’s marker away from the final space. Once the marker is locked, a player can win the game by hitting the Kooba. If at any time the hole in the aero goes around the notch in the Kooba, that player wins the game with their bull’s-eye. There are also a couple of other ways to play that come with the game. Kooba costs $69 and can be purchased from their website, koobagame.com.

Nerf guns from Hasbro
Next we have a great selection of Nerf guns from Hasbro. There are several dart and water guns to choose from but why not get one that combines them with the Nerf Super Soaker Tidal Torpedo 2-in-1 Water Blaster. Not only can the gun fire a stream of water 22 feet away, but it also comes with two Nerf torpedoes that you can also fire. Not everyone can have the same water gun so here are some others to choose from. The Flashflood holds 23 oz of water and can hit a target 38 feet away and has two different stream styles. The Floodfire holds even more water at 43 oz or can be hooked up to a water hose for non-stop water action. The three guns cost $15-$23 on Amazon.com.

H2OGO!
Lastly we have H2OGO! The H2OGO! is a water slide. There are three types of slides that give you one to three lanes to slide down and they’re all 18 feet long. There is aramp at the beginning that provides a soft landing and glides you onto the slide. At the end of the slide is a drench pool filled with water that is also shooting up out of the sides. The slide uses water to anchor and inflate the slide and comes with a nozzle connector to hook your hose up to it. You can find all three on Amazon.com for $15 to $34 by searching H2O Go Water Slide.
