The Art of Dance & Storytelling Fest

This month’s visiting artist at the Mississippi Children’s Museum is Kathryn Gurtier Wilson, graduate of Belhaven University and dance instructor/choreographer extraordinaire! She teaches locally but also teaches for the International Ballet Competition through their City Dance Program. On January 13th and January 27th from 11 AM – 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Kathryn will be providing a ballet workshop that will expand guests’ knowledge of classical dance vocabulary, coordination, musicality, strength, and flexibility. The program is included in general admission and museum membership.
Another museum favorite is the Storytelling Festival on Saturday, January 20th from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Join the Mississippi Children’s Museum as they celebrate Mississippi storytellers past and present. There will be many special guests including Rick Anderson, Dexter Allen, Andrea Thompson, Terrence Roberts, and Peter Zapetal of the MS Puppetry Guild. This event is also included in general admission and museum membership and is sponsored by the Mississippi Arts Commission.
This project is partially funded through a grant by Visit Jackson.
