About Us

Parents & Kids is a resource for busy families, providing real-life solutions, sound advice, creative ideas and practical information to make their lives easier. Its informative articles and features appeal to parents—from conception through the teen years. Unlike national parenting magazines, Parents & Kids provides Mississippi families with information specific to their communities.

Parents & Kids Magazine is distributed through many elementary schools throughout Mississippi, as well as Kroger Grocery Stores, Day Care Centers, Doctor Offices, Libraries, and Kid-Related Retail Shops.

Copies may be picked up at our office or mailed for the cost of postage, depending on availability. Each issue is also uploaded digitally and can be found in each region’s sidebar.

Carrie Partridge

Carrie Bevell Partridge grew up in Memphis, TN with her parents and four siblings. She attended Mississippi College, where she met her husband Kevin. They have been married for 20 years and have five children. They live in Ridgeland, MS. Carrie has written the “Growth Spurts” column and managed social media for Parents & Kids Magazine since 2011.

Courtney Ray

Courtney was born and raised in the MS Delta now lives in Petal with her husband and two kids. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and trying new recipes. She has been with Parents & Kids Magazine since 2015.

Dasha Peipon

Dasha is originally from Ukraine (it’s in the heart of Europe, look it up on the map if you want!) and moved to Mississippi with her family in September 2017. Before that she lived in Massachusetts and Maryland. She guesses they have a thing for “M” states. She is a writer, an editor, a teacher and the type of mom that never sits still. Being part of Parents & Kids has been helpful for her goal of finding places to explore with her kids, getting plugged in and her family becoming true Mississippians.

Gretchen Cook

Gretchen Cook fell in love with Mississippi in 1986. "It took me till 1989 to get a job here, but I was determined to leave my native Florida and move here." After a 20-year career in librarianship, she branched out into freelance writing, which led to publishing. Gretchen enjoys the outdoors, gardening, travel, reading, and spending her time with her husband, Bill and their three dogs and one cat. "I also have a goldfish pond," adds Gretchen.

M Scott Anderson

M. Scott Anderson grew up in Hattiesburg and now currently lives in Jackson. He went to college at USM and got a degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Creative Writing. He has always loved to be a storyteller. Friends from childhood would tell him of stories he would say he’s writing that included them in it. He enjoys comic books and superheroes and loves having friends over to play both table top games and video games.

Sonny Sweatt

Born and raised in Columbia, Mississippi, Sonny has since called many places home. Living in Asia for almost a decade showed him that there was no place like home. The current iteration of that home is Jackson, MS, with his wife, son and soon-to-be-born daughter. He's ecstatic that he gets to work at Parents & Kids where he passes the days coming up with more crazy ideas to support Mississippi families and businesses through media.

Tracey Dillard

Tracey is a lifelong Rankin Countian and loves small-town charm. Wife to Justin, a local firefighter, and proud mom of two wonderful girls, Ella Kate and Charlotte. Lover of music, coffee, good reads, sappy movies, and live baseball. More than anything she loves being with her kids and enjoying life with them.

Trina Blalock

Trina Bee loves Jackson through and through. A mother of three, who likes to refer to them as the Chipmunks. She wears many hats and can be seen coordinating events all across the south.
