Scott’s Toy Box: New Year, New Finds
A new year has started, and it’s time to pick out your New Year’s Resolution. This past year, I resolved to celebrate a national holiday every day, since there is at least one each day. I am very thankful that’s over but I haven’t yet decided on what I should resolve to do this year. This month in the Toy BoxI have found some great items to go along with some very common resolutions to help me decide.
If your resolution is to go outside more, you might want to get a Tentsile Tree Tent. This tent is suspended from the ground by three heavy duty straps and ratchets that are secured by three trees. Depending on the tent, it can hold between 2-4 people and their camping gear and up to 485-880lbs. These tents are great to take camping or make a great treehouse replacement that can quickly be put up and enjoyed plus you can take it with you if you ever move. They also have hammocks that are just like their tents. Go to tentsile.com for pricing on all their different products and watch some cool videos to see the tents and hammocks in action.
If you resolve to be more active, then you can pick up Move & Groove Game. A simple and easy game for all ages the Move & Groove game comes with a large plush die and many cards. The die is covered in six different colors that correlate to the different colored cards. You draw a card the same color that the die landed on and then you do the dance on the card. The color of the card dictates the type of movement you do. For example, the yellow cards have something you pretend to be on them. The type of movement is up to interpretation so everyone can cut loose and have fun which is the goal of the game. You can find Move & Groove Game on Amazon for $20.
If a new hobby is your resolution, then you should get The Magic Misfits. The book was written by Neil Patrick Harris and has beautiful story illustrations by Lissy Marlin. The Magic Misfits is the story of Carter, a street magician, and 5 other illusionists teaming up together to stop the villainous Bossoand his crew. What’s great is that there are chapters that teach you how to do magic tricks illustrated by Jackson’s own Kyle Hilton. You can learn things like how to roll a coin on your knuckles or how to move objects with your mind. The book can be found on Amazon for $13.
M Scott Anderson is a Hattiesburg native that lives in Jackson and is resolved to have a resolution at some point.
